A Planning Application was submitted to Taunton Deane Borough Council (TDBC) in May 2016 for outline permission for a mixed-use development and points of access including the provision of an internal spine road. Matters of landscaping, layout, scale and appearance are reserved for future determination under subsequent Reserved Matters planning applications. The land is approximately 80 hectares in size and is currently a ‘greenfield’ site. A separate application for land to the west was also submitted in February 2016 by Ptarmigan.
Together, the development will deliver 1628 new homes for Taunton as well as a new primary school, employment space, shops, community facilities, public open green space, allotments and sports pitches. The plans for a new spine road will help reduce traffic by over 60%.
Subject to obtaining planning permission, development will commence at the earliest opportunity, likely to be early 2017. It is anticipated that the proposed Development will be fully open by 2028.
