June 15, 2017
Sector: Built Heritage
Client: Malmesbury Abbey
Location: Malmesbury, Wiltshire
Roof repairs were proposed for the main body of the Abbey above the vaulted ceiling at this historic 12th Century Historic building.
On behalf of the client Wildwood Ecology:
- Project management, including a preliminary roost assessment and a series of dusk emergence and pre-dawn roost surveys.
- Identified the presence of a night roost for brown long-eared bats.
- Provided advice on the legal and planning policy issues and recommendations on how to address these, without the need for a mitigation licence.
Recommendations made within a method statement to ensure that bats and bat roosts are protected during the programmed works.
