How to… upgrade AnaBat firmware

In order to use the BatNav GPS unit (or indeed other GPS units) with your AnaBat detectors you need to ensure you are using the latest versions of the firmware. Indeed for reliable running of any bat detector you should be using the most recent firmware.

Wildwood Ecology and BatNav accept no responsibility for any errors or damage that occurs when upgrading your AnaBat’s firmware. For that purpose we can only redirect you to the manufacturer’s guides for carrying out the upgrade procedure. If you encounter difficulties upgrading your firmware please contact Titley Scientific directly – local contact details available at http://www.titley-scientific.com/

AnaBat SD1

Instructions – How to upgrade AnaBat SD1 firmware…. Download the firmware from http://www.titley-scientific.com/uk/index.php/software_firmware

Ensure you use firmware versions ending in ‘g’. Firmware versions ending in ‘w’ are for use with the GML system and will not work with a GPS unit.

AnaBat SD2

Upgrading the SD2 firmware is an easier process than with the SD1. For full information see the SD2 user manual. Download the firmware from http://www.titley-scientific.com/uk/index.php/software_firmware

Ensure you use firmware versions ending in ‘g’. Firmware versions ending in ‘w’ are for use with the GML system and will not work with a GPS unit.

If you are using firmware 4061g or later please ensure that you are using a CFCread version that starts “4.4”

Tips

  1. Use a blank CF card (or delete the data.dat file from a CF card – ensure you’ve downloaded any data first)
  2. If the firmware upgrade appears to work but then the error LED is flashing it is likely that your upgrade has worked, however the SD2 has then booted normally expecting to find a data.dat file on the CF card. Replace or reinitialise the CF card before proceeding.
