Historic build is now underway in Cirencester

The big build day has finally arrived! Materials were delivered on site early on in the afternoon and we’re now eager to get this historic building project started.

Wildwood Ecology is supporting “The Great LEGO® Build of 2017″ to help celebrate the founding of the Augustinian Abbey of St Mary, in Cirencester, by King Henry 1 in 1117. We shall be building the bell tower (bat also provided) and shutters that will be one of the final pieces to be installed on this 70,000 piece project!

“A significant amount of our work is in surveying historic buildings, structures and estates for protected species prior to maintenance, restoration or conversion projects” mentions Richard Dodd, Managing Director of Wildwood Ecology. “It’s great to be involved in such a wonderful project, seeing in the 900th year since the founding of the Abbey. All our staff are keen to get on with the build and we have even drafted in help from our South Wales office.”

The completion of the bell tower is expected to be mid-September. Further posts will show progress as we move to the final installation. To find out more visit the Abbey 900 website.
