We are also proud to be a Certified B Corporation.
Our vision is to be an inspirational and leading multi-disciplinary practice with a highly motivated and rewarded team offering ethical environmental services across the UK and Ireland and our ethos encapsulates personal honesty and integrity in everything we do.
Whilst we specialise in planning permission involving bats and heritage buildings, we can help you achieve the right balance between your commercial and ecological responsibilities no matter what your requirements are. We are proud to deliver pragmatic and cost-effective solutions to our broad client base which includes both the public and private sector.
As part of our collaborative approach we provide core ecological services such as our tailored Preliminary Ecological Appraisal’s.
Designed around our clients’ needs our services, with their clear and concise reports, will inform and help you progress your project development.
We also offer expertise across terrestrial and freshwater aquatic habitat types and our licensed and experienced ecologists routinely liaise with government agencies on ecological and planning issues including mitigation measures and the monitoring of protected species.
Our ecological team are members of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM), the professional body that represents and supports ecologists and environmental managers, and either hold, or are working towards acquiring, their bat licence.
We are specialists in undertaking bat surveys and our 20 plus years of experience in undertaking these surveys has allowed us to develop a strong understanding of complex sites, including historic and listed buildings and estate management.

Did you know
The Great Crested Newt (GCN) is the largest native newt found in the UK. Previously a common species that many people remember finding in backyard ponds populations have declined in recent years and it is now a rare species across Europe and strictly protected.
GCN actually only use ponds for breeding and spend most of the year outside of water where the surrounding habitat is important hunting and resting grounds for the newt. The GCN is a top predator and will eat most things that happen to walk by that it can fit in its mouth!
GCN can be found in a variety of habitats and even in urban ponds where they may not be expected.
Wildwood Ecology can offer both traditional methods of surveying for GCN, along with novel environmental DNA surveys and District Licensing. Contact us now for a tailored quote.
