How passionate are you about our natural environment?
Do you want to own your career direction and be part of a growing ethical company?
Do you always act with honesty and integrity?
Wildwood Ecology was established in 2008. As a team we have a shared vision which drives our values and aims. We work together to promote a culture where the natural environment is considered to be of equal if not greater value than the built environment. We always remain true to our ethos and beliefs so you won’t find us working on projects which we consider to be detrimental to our natural environment. We have great plans for the future and are looking to become the leading ethical and sustainable ecological consultancy in the UK and Ireland.
Although we do say so ourselves, we are a great team and this is why we love working here:
Richard Dodd - Managing Director
Why I work here – to make a difference on how we engage with the natural environment
Best bit about work – working alongside a passionate team who go that extra mile to ensure a win-win for both the natural and built environments. That and the great coffee!
What I do outside of work – I play trombone (brass band and big band) and love playing as much as I can. I’m also a homebrewer. Luckily these two worlds are highly compatible.
If you don’t understand people, you don’t understand business – Simon Sinek
Maggie Parker - Office Manager
Why I work here – I’m a country girl at heart and believe in sustainability and protecting the natural environment
Best bit about working here – the flexibility and variety of the job and the lovely people I work with
What I do outside of work – I love making stuff so lots of craft things, plus walking, reading, gardening and going to the gym.
I only feel angry when I see waste. When I see people throwing away things we could use – Mother Teresa

Julie Player - Senior Ecologist
Why I work here – because I value the company’s vision and approach, seeking sustainable solutions to all projects in a bid to reduce, if not halt, the decline in biodiversity
Best bit about working here – I like working on local projects as I feel I am having an impact on the biodiversity of wildlife in the area I live
What I do outside of work – when I am not at work I like to keep fit so you will either find me out running, in the gym or walking the dog
Each and every one of us can make changes in the way we live our lives and become part of the solution – Al Gore
Peter Hacker - Ecologist
Why I work here – I chose to work at Wildwood Ecology because as a small consultancy it allows me to expand my skillset and knowledge by working closely with highly qualified ecologists on a regular basis
Best bit about working here – my favourite bit about working here is that I get to spend time around rare species such as the lesser horseshoe bat, which we often see as part of our work.
What I do outside of work – I often spend my weekends exploring the Cotswold countryside with my girlfriend. Our most recent travels have taken us around some of the nearby ancient woodlands, where we enjoyed picnicking and taking photos of the swathes of bluebells
Climate change is a terrible problem and it absolutely needs to be solved. It deserves to be a huge priority – Bill Gates
Ian Weller - Assistant Ecologist
Why I work here – as an early career ecologist is was important to me to join an organisation that could offer me the best opportunity to develop myself and allow me to grow with the expectancy and values that they portray. I was keen to join Wildwood Ecology as the professionalism and environmental attitude presented to me through my dealings at University inspired me.
Best bit about working here – the friendly, professional atmosphere and the dedicated approach of all of the team members.
What I do outside of work – I am a keen gardener and grow my own fruit and veg on an allotment I have tended for the last 4 years. I am a member of Yate hockey club and spend most Saturdays during the winter season wielding a hockey stick at a ball in an attempt to stay fit.
The Earth is a fine place and worth fighting for – Ernest Hemingway
