Ecological Services

Wildwood Ecology is a purpose-driven ecological consultancy, strategically partnering with local authorities, architectural practices and planning consultancies to deliver truly sustainable developments.

Let us help keep your project on track

With offices in the Cotswolds and South Wales, Wildwood Ecology’s team of experienced and licenced ecologists has successfully been providing a range of ecology services since 2008.
Ecological Site Assessments

A Preliminary Ecological Appraisal (PEA) is a rapid assessment tool that evaluates the biodiversity value of a site, assess the scale of any likely impacts of a proposal on protected sites, habitats or species and informs you of actions needed to be taken to secure a successful outcome.

Biodiversity Net Gain
We identify, map and calculate biodiversity loss and gain and provide appropriate designs at all stages of planning and development.
Protected Species Surveys

Protected Species Surveys are usually required or requested when impacts to one or more legally protected species is considered likely and presence or likely absence needs to be determined.

Wildwood Ecology has licensed and experienced ecologists who can carry out protected species surveys following the latest guidelines to ensure that any hold-up to development is kept to a minimum.

Protected species mitigation design and licence applications

Where a development or activity damages or destroys habitat or disturbs a legally protected species, a mitigation licence will be required for works to lawfully proceed.

Our mitigation licence experts will design, review, prepare, and submit the licence application and all associated documentation on your behalf before implementing the strategy.

Habitat Regulations Assessment (HRA)

Supporting your development through the Habitats Regulations process.

If your project has the potential to affect a designated European site, such as a Special Area of Conservation (SAC), Special Protection Area (SPA), or a Ramsar site, then a Habitat Regulations Assessment (HRA) may be legally required.

Ecological Clerk of Works (ECoW)

On-site ecological supervision that keeps your project on track and legally compliant.

When construction or infrastructure works risk disturbing wildlife or habitats, an Ecological Clerk of Works (ECoW) ensures that mitigation and compliance measures are followed during development.
